Invite tracking

Every join, explained

Know exactly how your server grows. Every join is matched to an invite and credited to the member who shared it, with no setup once the bot is in.

  • Regular, left, fake and bonus invites counted apart
  • Follow the whole invite chain with /trace
  • See who invited anyone with /inviter and /invitedby Premium
  • Personal links with /findlink and every invite in a CSV file

How it works

Invite tracking, in detail

How a join is attributed

When someone joins, InviteCount compares the use counts of your invites to find the one that was used, then credits its owner. Joins it cannot attribute to a person are kept apart, each with its own welcome message:

  • Normal invite links, credited to their creator
  • Your vanity URL
  • Bots added through Discord's authorization screen
  • Joins the bot could not read because of missing permissions
  • Unknown joins

Four numbers for every inviter

Each member has regular invites (people still on the server), left invites (people who joined and left), fake invites (joins caught by your fake invite rules) and bonus invites (added by your staff). Leaderboards and messages can use any of them.

Trace the chain

/trace draws a member's inviter tree: who invited them, who invited their inviter, and so on. Free servers can run it 1 time per day; Premium removes the limit and adds /inviter, /invitedby and /invitedwith to look up any member in one command.

Keep the numbers right

Staff can add, remove, set or reset invites, resynchronize the server's invites with /syncinvites and blacklist up to 3 members (100 with Premium), whose invites stop counting for them from then on. /export csv gives you every invite record in a spreadsheet, on every plan.

Links for everyone

/findlink gives each member a personal invite link credited to them, and /invitecodes lists a member's codes with their uses. Name your important links with labels, such as Twitter or Partners, and give a role to everyone who joins through one.

Tidy invites

/purge-invite-codes deletes old or unused invite codes in bulk, with filters by member and channel and a confirmation first. Hidden members stay out of every leaderboard but keep their own invites.

Common questions

More in the documentation.

Does tracking need any configuration?

No. As soon as InviteCount is on your server with its permissions, every new join is matched to an invite and /invites works. Joins from before the bot arrived cannot be attributed. Configuration is only needed for messages, rewards and giveaways.

Why does the bot need the Manage Server permission?

Discord only shares invite use counts with apps that can manage the server, and those counts are how a join is matched to an invite. Manage Channels lets the bot see invites as they are created and deleted. /check-permissions shows anything missing.

Can I fix someone's count?

Yes, on every plan: /add invites, /remove invites, /set invites and /reset invites change one member, and /reset all invites starts the whole server from zero.

Is the CSV export free?

Yes. /export csv sends every member's regular, left, fake and bonus invites as a file, on every plan (administrators only). Exports of leaderboards, invited lists and growth events need Premium.
