Honeypot

A trap channel that catches spam bots the moment they post.

A honeypot is a channel that real members are told not to use. Spam bots post everywhere, so their first message in the trap gets them sanctioned and reported.

One trap with the default sanction is free. More traps, other sanctions and a custom warning need Premium.

Honeypot page
Dashboard → Honeypot.

Set it up#

  1. Dashboard → Honeypot.
  2. Click Create #honeypot: the bot creates a channel everyone can see and post in, with threads off, and adds it to the traps. Or add an existing channel under Trap channels.
  3. Turn on the honeypot and choose a Report channel.
  4. Click Save changes. The bot posts and pins a warning in each trap.

With commands (Manage Server): /honeypot create, /honeypot add <channel>, /honeypot remove <channel>.

What a report shows#

The member, their account age, the message (or Content not available), and the sanction applied or why it failed.

Safety#

  • One sanction per member every 30 seconds.
  • False alarm guard: if two members who joined more than 30 days ago post in a trap within 10 minutes, the trap pauses for 1 hour and the second member is not sanctioned. A notice goes to the report channel. Resume now lifts the pause.
  • A deleted trap channel is removed from the list, with a notice in the report channel.

History#

FreePremium
Recent triggers shownLast 5 over 3 daysLast 20 over 30 days

The history keeps the member, the channel, the sanction and the date. The text of the message is never stored: it only appears in the report posted on Discord.

When Premium ends, only the oldest trap keeps sanctioning (the warning of the others is taken down) and the free sanction applies. Settings stay saved.

Permissions#

Ban Members (kick and purge, ban), Kick Members, Timeout Members (timeout), Manage Messages (delete the message), Pin Messages (warning), Manage Channels (create #honeypot).
