Permissions

Every permission InviteCount asks for, what it is used for, and how to check them.

InviteCount asks for its permissions when you add it. This page explains each one, so you can decide what to keep.

Check the permissions at any time#

  • In Discord: run /check-permissions. Add a channel (/check-permissions channel:#welcome) to also check the permissions in that channel, where the bot sends messages.
  • On the dashboard: the Verification, Raid protection and Honeypot pages show a Bot permissions card with the permissions of that module.

/check-permissions lists each module, the permissions it needs, and the ones that are missing.

PermissionWhat InviteCount does with it
AdministratorCovers every other permission. Optional.
Manage ServerReads the server's invites to know who invited whom. Pauses invites during a raid. Required for invite tracking.
Manage ChannelsSees invites being created and deleted. Creates ticket channels and the #honeypot channel. Required for invite tracking.
Manage RolesGives auto roles, label roles, message rewards, the verified role, giveaway winner roles and ticket roles.
View ChannelsSees the channels where it sends messages.
Send MessagesSends join, leave and level-up messages, giveaways, leaderboards, reports and alerts.
Send Messages in ThreadsRuns giveaways inside a thread.
Embed LinksSends embeds (most of the bot's answers, leaderboards, giveaways, panels).
Attach FilesSends images and files: level cards, welcome banners, captchas, charts, CSV exports, transcripts.
Read Message HistoryFinds and edits its own messages: pinned leaderboards, charts, giveaways, panels.
Add ReactionsAdds the reaction of reaction giveaways, and the reaction under join messages.
Use External EmojisShows the bot's own emojis in its messages.
Manage MessagesDeletes the message posted in a honeypot channel.
Pin MessagesPins leaderboards, charts, the honeypot warning and the ticket opening message.
Kick MembersKicks members who fail verification (when you choose it), young accounts during a raid, and honeypot catches.
Ban MembersBans members who fail verification (when you choose it), raid cohorts, /massban, and honeypot catches (the default sanction is a ban followed by an unban, to delete their recent messages).
Timeout MembersTimes out honeypot catches, when you choose that sanction.
Mention EveryoneLets your own messages (welcome, giveaways, tickets) mention roles that are not mentionable. The bot never pings @everyone or @here.
Manage WebhooksCreates the webhook of the log channel: logs and invite alerts are sent through it.
Create Invite/findlink: creates the member's personal invite when they have no permanent one yet.
Change NicknameSets the nickname of the bot profile on your server.
Create Public Threads, Create Private ThreadsPart of the invite link, but no current feature depends on them. You can remove them.

Role position#

Discord lets the bot manage only the roles below its own role. If a role is above InviteCount's role, the bot can't give it, even with Administrator. Drag the InviteCount role above those roles in Server Settings → Roles.

What stops working without a permission#

MissingEffect
Manage Server or Manage ChannelsInvites are not tracked. Joins use the No permission message type, and /invites warns you.
Manage Roles, or a role above the botRoles are not given. Label roles are skipped silently; other features tell you in their answer or in the dashboard.
Send Messages, Embed Links or Attach Files in a channelMessages to that channel fail. Server reports and pinned charts turn themselves off and tell you why on the dashboard.
Kick or Ban MembersThe verification action, the raid buttons and the honeypot sanction fail. The report says so.

See Permissions by feature for the permissions each feature needs, and the permissions members need to use each command.
